Hi everyone,
This is Steve McKenzie giving a little update on how things are going. We have been very busy and going from early morning to late at night so I have'nt had a lot of time to keep up the blog. Everything is going well and we have met many Rotarians, made a number of presentations to numerous Rotary Clubs ( mostly evening meetings), visited many sights and many Rotary Club projects. The Team has represented Dist.7930 very well. We are nearing the end of our third week with still more to come.
If you noticed the last picture entered onto the blog, it was from Amy, one of the team members. She also posted a link to her blog which contains many more recent pictures (my camera is not cooperating very well and she has a good one). So, you can click on her link and see more of the Team in action and London as well. I will report back as soon as I can.

Here are some more pictures. The team visited the American Embassy yesterday and here are some pictures. We have also made 5 presentations at Rotary Clubs in the district and all has gone very well.

Hello District 7930,

This is GSE TEAM LEADER Steve McKenzie sending you greetings from the GSE team in London. We got here in fine fashion and been very busy since. So far, we have been whisked around London had a few vocational visits and made a couple of presentations to a number of

Rotary Clubs in District 1130. We are learning to use the London subway system (the "TUBE") very quickly since this is the most efficient way for use to get around. Everyone has been great to us so far and we are exhausted at the end of every day. Someone from the team will be reporting here from time to time so stay tuned. Here are a few pictures of the team in action at sites, rotary projects like a community youth boxing center (Team leader in action!!) and meeting the District Governor at the District's Headquarters (They have their own building!!!.

What is GSE?

“The Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for businesspeople and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers. The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country’s culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.

In a typical four-week tour, applicants participate in five full days of vocational visits, 15 to 20 club presentations, 10 to 15 formal visits and social events, two to three days at the district conference, three to four hours per day of cultural and site tours, and three to four hours per day of free time with host families.”
